Kenta Watanabe

Kenta Watanabe is a senior researcher working on coastal and estuarine environment research group of Japanese national institute, Port and Airport Research Institute. Kenta specializes in ecosystem ecology and biogeochemistry in coastal environments. His expertise encompasses fieldwork in the subtropical, temperate, and boreal sites of, along with laboratory analyses. He has studied carbon storage processes in seagrass, tidal marsh, and mangroves. In particular, his recent research interest is carbon storage processes in macroalgae beds and aquaculture, and also atmospheric CO2 removal in blue carbon habitats.
