Jerome Harlay

Jerome Harlay, from France, has a PhD in marine sciences from the University of Brussels (ULB). He joined the University of Seychelles on the island of Mahe and he currently works as a senior lecturer in the Department of Environment of the University of Seychelles and is the acting Director of the James Michel Blue Economy Research Institute (BERI-UniSey). He has passionate about the carbonate system and ecosystem metabolism over the past 20 years. He is co-leading for the Seychelles the Seychelles Seagrass Mapping and Carbon Assessment project that aims at ground-truthing seagrass meadows at national level and at assessing blue carbon stocks and sequestration rates. He also is a national focal point for the IAEA’s RAF7020 programme on Blue carbon sequestration.
